Spring

A Visit from Painted Lady Butterflies - Los Angeles Fine Art Photographer

Ahhhโ€ฆ Spring can definitely be smelt in the air. A little bird whispered in my ear:โ€Painted lady butterflies are making their way through California, migrating from Mexico to the Pacific Northwestโ€.

Yet, stubborn like me, I was determined to share with you what we just experienced in record snow fall and bone-chilling temperatures.

But, nature has its own plans. As if the whisper was not loud enough, these ladies made their appearance right in front of my eyes, making me forget my insistence.

Well, there you are, ladies and gentlemen, the painted ladies in a painterly setting. Hot off the press, fresh off the camera. Nature is breath-taking. I have no choice but to oblige.

Oregon, you are next. Are you ready for these fine ladies and their babies?

How much intervention with nature is too much - Los Angeles Photographer

Spring is one of my favorite seasons for photography. ย One, it comes after a life-less winter. ย Two, it provides the fresh colors that no other seasons can. Realizing that the season will come to an end before we are done enjoying it, I took out my camera and ventured into a garden, so close that it's in my backyard. :-)

My eyes were drawn by a cluster of geranium flowers, scarlet red on the edge and slowly fading into light pink to the center. ย As I pointed my lens and ready to utter out "say cheese", I froze. ย It looks like someone else beat me to it. ย Take a close look at this image and see if you could find any "irregularity":

As a human being, equipped with much more power and intelligence (supposedly), I could very easily destroy this little "infestation" and go on with my joy of capturing the intact beauty that nature has to offer. ย But wait, isn't this green incident part of nature? ย If I do what my first instinct tells me to, would I still shamelessly complain that we don't see butterflies anymore in summer?

As you see, I stood there and made the intelligent decision (I think) and the result is what you just saw.

Enjoy, my friend! ย I hope you have a wonderfully natural weekend and I look forward to you sharing it here on Monday.

How many faces does magnolia have? - Los Angeles Photographer

OK, so it's Friday and it feels so spring.  In fact, there are Cherry Blossom Festivals in quite a few locations near where I am this weekend.  I'm thinking something pretty and spring-ish while my mind is on the images from the Huntington Library.  So, I tried my hand with the incredible magnolia varieties.  And you know what, like women, they are multi-faceted.  So this is to the flower-like women in this world that make it such an interesting and beautiful place to be in.

Well, here they are and you can be the judge:
